Trostar: Comprehensive Privacy Policy 2.0

Last Modified: January 14, 2026

Governing Entity: MC MULTIMEDIA

Jurisdiction: Republic of Ghana and the rest of Africa

1. Introduction and Scope

Trostar (“we,” “us,” or “our”), a subsidiary of MC MULTIMEDIA, is committed to maintaining the highest standards of data privacy for our users. This policy governs all data processing activities within the Trostar Station Mobile Application and the Official Website (www.trostat.eu.cc).

This Platform serves as a public-interest utility to provide transparent fare information, route mapping, and vehicle registry verification. By using our services, you acknowledge the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy and the Data Protection Act 2025.

2. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data under the following legal frameworks:

  • Contractual Necessity: To provide the transit services you request (e.g., finding the nearest station).
  • Legitimate Interest: To improve road safety and prevent transport fraud through vehicle verification.
  • Public Interest: Facilitating transparency in national transport fares as mandated by the Ministry of Transport and the GPRTU.
  • Consent: Where you explicitly opt-in to marketing or precise location tracking.

3. Information Categories and Collection

We categorize the data we collect into three distinct groups:

A. User-Provided Information

  • Account Data: When you register on the Website or App, we collect your name, email address, and phone number.
  • Support Queries: Records of communications when you report inaccurate fare data or station locations.

B. Automated Technical Data

  • Device Metadata: IP addresses, hardware model, operating system version (e.g., Android 14, iOS 19), and unique device identifiers.
  • Usage Logs: “Clickstream” data showing which routes or stations are searched most frequently to help us optimize the user interface.

C. Location Information

  • Approximate Location: We utilize coarse location (cellular/Wi-Fi based) to show nearby hubs.
  • Processing Method: To protect your privacy, this data is processed locally on your device via our Offline-First architecture. It is not uploaded to our central servers unless you explicitly request a “Route Sync.”

4. Special Feature: Vehicle Verification & DVLA 2026 Reform

Trostar serves as a digital bridge for the DVLA 2026 Vehicle Registration Reforms.

  • Zonal Verification: Our Platform is updated to verify the new Zonal/Area Codes (e.g., “AD” for Adenta, “KM” for Kumasi) which have replaced the registration year on number plates.
  • Safety Checks: Users can cross-reference vehicle registry numbers against authorized GPRTU station lists to ensure they are boarding a legally registered commercial vehicle.
  • RFID Integration: We are currently preparing technical support for the DVLA’s RFID-embedded plate system to allow for seamless electronic verification at major transport terminals.

5. Data Retention and “Offline-First” Storage

To assist users in low-connectivity areas and reduce data costs, we employ a sophisticated storage model:

  • Local Cache: The App stores a encrypted version of the national fare registry on your phone. This data remains on your device for up to 30 days before requiring a refresh.
  • Account Retention: Personal account data is retained as long as your account is active. If an account remains inactive for 24 months, it is automatically queued for anonymization.

6. Data Sharing and Third-Party Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data to advertisers. Disclosure occurs only under the following conditions:

  • Governmental Partners: Aggregated, anonymized statistics (non-identifiable) are shared with the National Road Safety Authority to identify congested hubs.
  • GPRTU Coordination: Verification of “Station Master” credentials to ensure the accuracy of the union directory on our Website.
  • Legal Necessity: If compelled by a court order or to protect the life and safety of a commuter in an emergency.

7. Your Rights (DPA 2025 Compliance)

Under the oversight of the Data Protection Authority (DPA), you hold the following rights:

  1. Right to Access: Request a digital summary of all data MC MULTIMEDIA holds about you.
  2. Right to Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  3. Right to Erasure (“Right to be Forgotten”): Request the permanent deletion of your profile.
  4. Right to Rectify: Correct any errors in your personal info or report errors in public transit data.

8. Security Protocols

We implement AES-256 encryption for all data at rest and TLS 1.3 for all data in transit between our Website, App, and servers. While we strive for 100% security, we maintain a 72-hour breach notification policy to inform you and the DPA of any unauthorized access.
